ThE sWeEtEsT tHiNgS

So, I got to have a ...:FABULOUS:...visit from my friend Jackie. She was driving through Salt Lake on her way up to Washington and spent a few nights at my place. Jackie, Amy, and I all went out dancing (it took a lot of coaxing to make them realize it really was a good idea). Well, I was right, and it was a good idea...

I realized I haven't completely lost all of my pool playing skils when Randy, Amber, Scott, and I went out to dinner and played pool together. Yep, that's my man...

I got to spend St. Patty's Day with Lorna and Aveon, which was cool...haven't seen them for a bit.

Amy, Kallie, and I went to Metal Gods. It's this insane 80's butt-rock night at Liquid Joe's in Salt Lake. The costumes the band was wearing...seriously priceless. We're talking wigs with dreads, cut-off/mid-drift baring tops, and some insane red-spandex I wish I could pull off.

And then there's this angel

Well, my mother is in Puerto Rico having a wonderful time, so I got to spend a day watching my dear little brother and sister. We went to the park and I got both of them to climb up the rock wall, which, sadly, I didn't get a picture of. I was making sure they didn't fall though, so I have a legitimate excuse.

Always the poser

And the HILARIOUS face I FINALLY caught on film

A Lost Friend

K, so______I decided it officially blows when a friend you've shared pretty much everything with decides to not be such a good friend anymore. Like one of those friends you can actually talk about stuff with. You know, the mysteries of the universe. I've had this happen to me several times over the last year or so, and it doesn't get easier. I have found a few people I really connect with on an intellectual/spiritual level and every single time it seems to turn around and slap me in the face.
The secrets shared, everything, it's like it was nothing. When you feel like you have somebody understand you so well, only to find out they really don't, it hurts. Not just that, but because they do know you pretty well they tend to say things that will hurt the most. I'm targeting several people in this little rant. Namely, Mike and Jeff as of late. Yes, I'm saying it, I've been hurt significantly by two people that mean a lot to me.
I've come to accept the fact that Jeff is probably never going to be in my life, which blows, cuz he is a good guy. It just sucks that he can't see how this 'horrible' thing, aka having a child together, could be such a positive thing for him. It has ended up being the best thing that ever happened to me, and because I still care I wish he could share in that same joy.
Mike, well, all I have to say about that is I was always right about everything with him. I always knew exactly what he was thinking and what he was trying to say without words. I never guessed he could be happy for me. That's it.
I hate it when I still care about that people that hurt me the most. As the Rascal Flatts song says, "What hurts the most, is being so close. Having so much to say, and watching you walk away." That's right, that's what hurts the most. I agree completely. I've said my piece...and that's the end of it.

Crazy Enough to Keep Me Interested

Alrighty! It's been a minute since I blogged. My bad...but OH WELL! I totally had a fabulous time with Mike when he came to visit. We had an absolutely heavenly day of snowboarding at Snowbird. It was sunny and perfect. The only thing that would have made it slightly better was if it snow a TON. Oh well, it was still amazing.
For those who don't take time to enjoy the mountain...snowboarding is euphoric. Seriously, probably the most peace I've ever felt is while I'm riding the mountain. It definitely makes me smile muchos grande!
That was little blurb on snowboarding. Well, Mike and I got to go out to Green Street to celebrate Mardi Gras/me being able to fit into my favorite pair of jeans for the first time. It was a blast. Mardi Gras parties are always full of crazy, fun people. My roommate and the dude she's seeing went with us and we met up with Hannah and Adam. It was a fantastic evening.
Oh, awesome news...I got a job at a laser center in Sandy. I'm enjoying it so much! I love all of the girls I work with and I'm learning so much. I get to zap people with lasers and poke them with needles all day. Causing people pain shouldn't make me smile as much as it does, but it's 100% self-inflicted, so I smile at my job ...:all day:...
I found a new song. It's by nevershoutnever. It's called "Happy" and I was so disappointed when they didn't have it on playlist.com to add to my page! So, if you click on the link above you can totally listen to it on dude's myspace page. I actually really enjoy all of his music. SURPRISE! Yeah, not really that much of a surprise.
My friend Amber's husband, Randy, has been away for the last week and a half or so. We were both so happy to have him come back on Monday! We did get to have a girl's night while he was gone. We went to ABG's in Provo and shot some pool. Randomly we ran into a guy Randy used to work with. It was pretty cool.
My mind has been occupied lately with positive thoughts. At least I think they are. I've had the chance to go out on a few dates over the last few weeks. Definitely kind of weird to get back into the dating scene, but I'm enjoying myself. At least, I think I am. I definitely get all antsy and nervous on all the dates, which is totally weird. Never had that happen before. I've only felt comfortable enough with one of the guys to tell him about Kate. This date, Scott, has got me all smiles all of the time. As my friend Zach put it, "He seems nice enough to treat you right, but crazy enough to keep you interested". I laughed and said we'll see. So, if it does develop further I will definitely keep you updated.
My insomnia comes and goes. Last night, it was a raging beast. Really, it was kind of crazy. I had been up since six AM and worked a 14 hour day. I wasn't able to go to sleep until six AM this morning. Yeah, I'm crazy. So what did I do after work? I visited Randy and Amber, drove home, then drove to Lenny's. Oh yes, Lenny playing guitar at three in the morning makes me smile. Silly boy.
So, my list of smiles:
1. Going snowboarding with Mike

2. My FAVORITE jeans finally fitting again
3. Mardi Gras parties

4. My new job
5. "Happy" by nevershoutnever
6. How big Kate is getting!

7. Hanging out with Amber

8. My crazy dates with Scott

9. Lenny playing guitar for me at three in the morning

10. The fact that my sibs are always so excited to see me when I go to visit!
11. Randy coming home!
